Yes, I was in this exact delema the weekend of March 20th (yes, i am behind on my blogging ;)) ... i had to choose between the Mercer Island half marathon and a local Budu race. And I was actually torn ... i really want to beat my 1:42 time from last fall when i was getting back into running.
But then fate had her way ... Mountain Side Cycles called ... my Norco Phaser 1 was ready to go ... well, obviously, i have to bike! there is no better way to test out a new ride than to take it out on the trails and go as fast as you can go!! And that is exactly what I did ... and here is what I found out:
The Phaser lives up to all expectations ...
- it climbs like a goat
- it descends like a Faze
- and it handles ... well, like a Norco ;) It handles really really well ... I LOVE IT!
Yup, i've fallen in love yet again! So fickle, i know ... but I will say that the Faze still holds a dear place in my heart and will be used for longer events like 24 solo for sure. The Phaser is more agressive and i'm sure after about 12 hours in the saddle i'll be eager to sit on a more relaxed geometry :)
The other thing I learned is that I am overtrained :) So ... my training plan this winter has been 'do what you want, when you want'. Yes ... i know ... silly. For those of you who know me well, you know what this means .... yup, biking, swimming and running pretty much every day. So yeah, i am now going to take one day a week off each week ... and i have recovery weeks built in now too :)
